Ipomoea
One distinguishing quality of the common morning glory is that it has a broad, heart-shaped leaf. The flowers are trumpet-shaped and its flaring, funnel-shaped blossom opens during the morning but closes in the afternoon sun.
Fallow and cultivated fields, waste ground, roadsides, railroads. They prefer full sun and dry to moist soils.
