Pheasant Coucal

Centropus phasianinus

Description:

A large bird, over 50 in length with a long tail. Coucal Pheasants are not good fliers, but quite clumsy in their escape from danger. I've never seen one fly very far, only to the nearest tree or thicket.

Habitat:

Often found in long grass & sugar cane fields.
