Leptoglossus clypealis
Leaf-like protrusions on the hind legs have very shallow scallops. Broad zig-zagging white stripe across wings. "Western Leaf-footed Bug" is the common name usually seen for this species, but it is confusing, as the same name is sometimes applied to L. zonatus, and the Latin name for the "Western Conifer Seed Bug" is L. occidentalis, which actually means "western", and that is also a Leaf-footed Bug in the same genus. On top of all that, this species is not limited to the "West", though it is perhaps more abundant westward than eastward.
Slightly wooded area adjacent to I-35.
As I was shooting this bug, I figured it was just another Leptoglossus phyllopus. Upon further inspection of my photos when I arrived back home, I noticed that it has the spine on the tip of the nose, which appears to make it Leptoglossus clypealis. It's also missing its right antenna.
