An unidentified 'leafhopper', "a common name applied to any species from the family Cicadellidae. These minute insects are plant feeders that suck sap from plants. Their hind legs are modified for jumping, and are covered with hairs that facilitate the spreading of a secretion over the body that acts as a water repellent and carrier of pheromones. They undergo an incomplete metamorphosis and have various host associations varying from very generalized to very specific. Some are pests or vectors of plant viruses and phytoplasmas. Some species have a cosmopolitan distribution, or occur throughout the temperate and tropical regions. Spotted on vegetation along a survey transect in secondary coastal lowland mixed freshwater swamp forest/sago swamp forest.

Thanks Carol1. Cicadellidae, the family of this species, is already listed in the description and in a tag on this spotting. I don't want to use the family name for the species (scientific) name because there are many many species in the family and I hope to eventually get this spotting identified down to its actual species. :-)
