Large green and golden beetle. When I was a kid these beetle were common but now this is the first one I see in more than a decade. About 3 cm long. Family Scarabs

Nice capture! I seam to recall a book (?), that wrapped around a story of a "gold" beetle. Sure it was really made of gold in the book, however with your photos you got I wonder if it was based off of this beetle perhaps?
