Speckled Crab

Arenaeus cribrarius

Habitat:

surf zone, buries itself in the sand on beaches.

Notes:

Found this guy turned on its back on the sand seemingly dead. (the beach was littered with things that the Storm Issac had washed ashore) I picked it up it was all limp, but when I put it in the water to wash off the sand so that I could take its picture it began to move its eyes and mouth parts. I took the pictures quickly and returned him to the water. I don't know if it will make the top of the carapace (as can be seen) was also damaged.
