Asclepias tuberosa
Low profile plant with a large group of orange flowers clustered together.
Growing along a walking path at Konza Prairie Nature Area in the Kansas Flint Hills.
Thanks for the confirmation and welcome to Project Noah. This place is really addicting!
Thanks for pointing me in the milkweed direction! After looking more into this I'm thinking it's Butterfly Weed/Indian Paintbrush (Asclepias tuberosa) because of the dry prairie location/soil and differing inner flower petal shapes. The scarlet milkweed flowers look to cluster differently in pictures too, but I'm not sure if what I've found online is a good representation of the species to compare with.
