Ganoderma sp.
Ganodermataceae; Ganoderma sp."Ganoderma is a genus of polypore fungi in the family Ganodermataceae that includes about 80 species, many from tropical regions. They have a high genetic diversity and are used in traditional Asian medicines. Ganoderma can be differentiated from other polypores because they have a double-walled basidiospore. They may be called shelf mushrooms or bracket fungi." Wikipedia.
This Artist's Bracket Fungi was spotted growing on a dead branch being used as a prop for a plant in our garden.
Both pictures are the same specimens. The first photo I took is shown on the right, but it was in a shaded position. So I moved the branch to another position to display the colours better. That is the nicer picture on the left.

Thank you so much for identifying this one for me. I was delighted to have it identified to Genus level, but then I saw your further comment giving me a possible species. Unfortunately I can't pop out to the garden and open the flesh and check the colour because, as i am sure you noticed, the picture was taken back in 2013. However, these things appear frequently here and next time I see one, I will endeavour to check the inside flesh colour. Thank you once again for your kind assistance. John B.
Possibly G. lucidum. Unable to say as a bit more information would be needed (like the color of the inside flesh).
