Spotting

Description:

There must have been a dozen of these ants on every plant at the cabin... and this is an abundant plant. I figure the ant is gathering/eating nectar?

Habitat:

Open areas in deciduous woods.

It might be gathering pollen as well or maybe searching for aphids that secrete honeydew when they are caressed by the ants, this is a symbiotic relationship as in term the ants protect them from predators like the ladybugs, wasps and other insects. I believe it might be a Myrmica, but are not sure enough to make a ID suggestion...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aphid
