Cuckoo Wasp

Chrysis angolensis

Description:

Blue green wasp uniformly wide through abdomen. Dark wings. Found on oak tree near the Braconid wasp. Cuckoo wasps are known to lay their eggs in a host's nest. Hard to ID, pretty sure subfamily Chrysididae and possibly genus Holopyga (or possibly Chrysis angolensis per the comment suggestion - I have no idea :) )

Habitat:

Columbus Georgia

You're welcome. I know they use many wasps' nest and other insects. Don't know about Braconids though, as they are themselves parasitic.

Thank you @LivanEscudero. I had never heard of (or seen) a Cuckoo wasp before. It was on the same tree and near the egg laying Braconid wasp. Think it was trying to invade her nest?
