Acres of water lettuce had taken over this area after the area flooded. It really lives up to its common name with its appearance, except the leaves are slightly velvety.
In the last photo you can see this blankets the water's surface almost completely, with the exception of some patches of hyacinths. The water in this area was much higher than usual due to recent rains. La Chua Trail, Payne's Prairie
