Agalinis purpurea

Description:

Upright to sprawling annual. Stem solitary, commonly angled, much branched in upper part, with branches slender, wiry, and wide-spreading. Reddish purple to pale pink basally lined with yellow, spotted with purple and bearded, united short tubular with 5 unequal, flaring lobes at rim.

Habitat:

Bittern Marsh Trail in Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area.

Notes:

A decoction of the roots of this semiparasitic plant was once used medicinally.
