Ash

Fraxinus sp.

Description:

The bark on a younger ash tree is relatively smooth. As the tree ages the bark thickens and a diamond-like pattern in the raised bark is noticeable.

Habitat:

Riparian area near Trinity River in Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area.

Notes:

My guess is this is probably a white ash, but I'm not absolutely sure.
