I crept up very slowly until my lens was just a few inches from her face - I have a special lens (a macro) that I can clip on my camera so I can take close ups but these guys usually fly away before I can get close enough. This time I was just lucky I guess!

Amazing close-up shots of the dragonfly's face, Karen! This individual is a female, based upon its green coloration and the terminal appendages at the end of its abdomen.
