River Otter

Lutra canadensis

Description:

River Otter tracks along the lake. They keep a few holes open in the ice so they can continue to fish. Once in the water they will scare the fish closer to shore so they can catch them. The marks over snow show where they slide in the snow using their back legs to push themselves. Often use old beaver homes to live in.

Notes:

Long otter sliding trail that went on and on along the lake perimeter.
