Description:

Found this lovely butterfly warming up on the side of our tent one morning while we were camping. Medium sized, rich brown butterfly. Scalloped edges to wings, especially the hindwings. Tiny eyespots with a touch of blue on outer hindwing. Inside of wings are orangish with yellow and black markings. Antennae are dark at the base, transitioning to brown, then yellow at the tips.

Habitat:

Camping area (open, mown grass), bordering temperate forest. Nolin Lake State Park, Kentucky.
