Reminds me of home (MO) but I don't miss these at all! But there are a host of other species here (New Guinea) to replace them :-(

Ah, one of my 'favorite' things about tromping about Ocala. (A quick swipe with a turpentine soaked cloth and all better--my granny's remedy)

Thanks for the sympathy , all! They don't hurt- but they itch like crazy! I guess they look deep because I put a dot of a black marker on them- so I can tell if I'm getting new bites. These are teeny tiny things, and they leave small red bumps that itch for several days .
