Ursus arctos horribilis
This bear was one of 2, raised on Grouse mountain, North Vancouver, after being orphaned when very young. They have a beautiful natural wooded enclosure with 2 water holes and a lot of natural bush.
This bear and the one in the next spotting were bears orphaned when cubs that were rescued from being euthanized, as was/is government policy, it seems. The ranger said they could not be released into the wild because they had not developed survival skills, but they are trying to get permission to adopt more orphan bears and raise them to be released into the wild.
