Ussurian Pear

Peruse ussuriensis

Description:

This is a Ussurian Pear tree from the Rosaceae family. It appears to have a form of phototropism as it is leaning drastically towards the south. This tree has dead branches in its upper canopy and spotty rust colored leaves which are curling inwards. The bark is light, reddish-orange coloured and is splitting throughout the tree. Perhaps the damaged bark was caused by sun scalding.

Habitat:

This tree is located in an open space near an agricultural pond in the wetland area at the Botanical Gardens in Olds college.

Notes:

I believe there are a few factors contributing to this trees poor health and that the tree is in decline.
