Bee swarm

Apis mellifera

Description:

A huge mass of bees attached to a pine fence rail. The clump measured approx. 400mm across.

Habitat:

Suburban back yard on treated pine fence rail.

Notes:

This mass was no more than 5 metres away from a hive in an old eucalyptus tree which I have watched for 15 years now. Now if I can only get them to gather from the 'Pride of Madeira' in the neighbour's garden.

I think they're well gone martin - only lasted for the day. Good to see they're thriving though.

Neat. My brother has beehives and one swarmed last week.
Do you want a home for these?
