Giant Red-headed Centipede

Description:

Large impressive centipede with dark brown/black body segments, yellow/orange legs and a redish orange head. Can reach a length of around 20 cm.

Habitat:

This centipede is terrestrial and rarely seen above ground level. It seems to prefer areas rich in leaf litter and other readily available hiding places. Feeds on insects and small rodents and amphibians.

Notes:

Reported to have a painful bite.
