I'm still an amateur with the camera so most of the shots I took were unusable because of the lighting. I am however glad the picture captured exactly how scary the owl looked (and acted...since it swooped at my head a couple times...although to be fair I was probably annoying it with the flash setting)
Thanks Cammie I deliberately tried to get the moon in the shot ^_^
and it looks very close to the ID you suggested. Its only hard to confirm because of the different lighting and angles. It's highly likely though so I'll go with it.
I could be incorrect on my suggestion, I am not from the area.
