Boselaphus tragocamelus
The adult is a female because it has light yellowish skin; males are distinctly blue (or Neel). Cow-like (hence the suffix gai)
We were whizzing past on the highway heading towards Jamnagar when these large animals caught my eye. They were on fallow land bordering the highway.
Nilgai are common in this region and are sometimes called Blue Bulls. For many years (and perhaps, to a degree, even now) the resemblance to cows was a safety net for these animals that were not hunted or harmed in any way. Three in One
