White-tipped Black or Snowbush Spanworm

Melanchroia chephise (Stoll, 1782)

Description:

A medium sized day-flying Geometrid moth, antennae, wings, abdomen, and legs black. Head, thorax and ovipositor orange. Wings tipped with white, wingspan approximately 30mm.

Habitat:

Euphorbs are the larval host plant. Larvae are strikingly colored, yellow with black bands. Ranges from Paraguay north to southern Florida and Texas.
