This is a large bird with a black body and neck. There is a brown patch at the top of its head.The wings were gray and white. It had a long tail similar to a turkey. The long beak was orange.

I observed this bird sitting and drying in the sun and then it went swimming, using its long beak and neck for a snorkel tube.
