Fungus weevil (male)

Ischnocerus angulatus

Description:

About 7 millimeters in body length, colored as shown.

Habitat:

Near a riparian corridor with cottonwood and other trees, surrounded by Sonoran Desert habitat. This location was a resort property, so more "lush" than surrounding areas. Map location is approximate.

Notes:

This is not a commonly-seen beetle. It is nocturnal, and this specimen was crawling up a tree trunk.
