Northern Raccoon (Kit)

Procyon lotor

Description:

Series: I found this cute little fuzzy critter digging in the grass along a wooded area. It looked to be about 12 inches in length, from nose to the end of its tail, and still had its eyes closed. I know that most raccoon kits don't open their eyes until they're about 3 weeks old, but as far as I know, their eyes are usually open before they begin to walk.

Habitat:

Woodland

Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
