Tiger Beetle

Description:

I'm assuming this is a variety of tiger beetle. Beautiful emerald tones and long legs. Pinschers were white. Not spots.

Habitat:

Spotted on a lake dock.

It looks like you and ForestDragon are on the right track thinking it is a 6-spot, without the spots. There is a lot of variation in some of these species.

I believe this is most likely a Six-spotted Tiger Beetle. They can have some variation on with the white spots.

I saw a couple of posts that show six spotted beetles without the spots, but I'm also a bit stumped. Looking for additional insight like you :)

Hi momsavang. I've been chasing this around for a while without notable success. I thought, like you it must be a tiger beetle. Insect Identification of Georgia https://www.insectidentification.org/ins... lists 3 tiger beetles. The Festive TB is the wrong color. The Carolina TB has white legs and the 6-spot, obviously has 6 white spots that can't be seen on your example. I'm with you that it looks like a "variety" of Tiger Beetle, but I'm not going to be able to narrow it down. Hope someone can help. Iridescent bugs are so cool.
