A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Nycridromus albicollis
Our guide on the river skiff caught this bird BY HAND as our boat drifted by it perching on a tree branch as we spotlighted for wildlife at night. In the poor picture closeup of the face you can see the facial sensory hairs that help in catching insect on the wing at night. Its a nocturnal insectivore. Our guide was a well studied scientist and native of Amazonia, of course he released the bird very soon after capture, it flew up and away into the moonlit night.
