grapevine beetle

Pelidnota punctata

Description:

Grapevine Beetle, aka Spotted June Beetle, aka Spotted Pelidnota. Significantly bigger than your usual "june/may" beetles. This one was at least 1/2 wide and 2 inches long. Tan coloring with some dark markings and a divot near the wing base. Antenna not present? Or seen? Drawn to porch light.

Habitat:

Suburban Area, Columbus Ga. Drawn to porch light. No grapevines present that I'm aware of, but other notes indicate virginia creeper as a host plant, and we do have that.
