Bracket Fungus

Description:

Dry. Dark with squiggly patterns on the surface.

Habitat:

Kayal's garden or Kayaler Bagan. This garden was acquired by the govt. and thrown open to the public in 2005 or thereabouts. It is an old garden full of 100 year old trees, ferns, mushrooms, orchids, birds, spiders and insects.

Thank you, Leuba. I knew about the mirror trick. Neil told me once...but I did not have a mirror with me...and I did not feel like touching it. I will definitely keep your suggestion in mind. Renaming it now, Many Thanks and goodluck with your mushroom hunt.

Sounds like a wonderful place and an interesting spotting Sukanya. This looks like an old bracket fungus with an interesting upper surface. If you spot this one again, could you please take a shot of the under side (fertile/pore surface) and a profile shot. You could do this with a mirror to reflect the underside- needs a little practise but should work !
If you know the tree, this could narrow the search.
We are just coming into fungi season here- i hope I find some new exciting ones.
