Lissotriton vulgaris vulgaris

Description:

Males of a smooth newt during the breeding season. During this time they develop a tall, wavy, translucent crest along the spine and tail, with dark spots covering the rest of the body, including the belly. Cca. 10 cm long.

Habitat:

River bog, forest.
