2-3 inches tall at the smallest. The largest had a cap size of 3.5 inches. The cap was covered in dark gray-black overlapping scales. Dirty gray spores and a shaggy gray stem.
Growing along a wooded trail on the side of a small pond at Flanders Nature Center.
