Acanthoplus discoidalis
It is also known as Corn Cricket: "Like its closest relatives, Acanthoplus discoidalis variously bears common names such as armored katydid, armored ground cricket, armored bush cricket, corn cricket, ..". In Angola it's very common in the south territory and at night, when they appear, they "sing"
Perhaps one of the strangest animal I've ever seen on a beach. At the end of the day they started to appear moving from the hills, near by the sea, to the interior where there is some dense vegetation
The identification was made by @JoseFranciscoSalgado on a Facebook Group criated to help identifying biodiversity in Angola: Acanthoplus discoidalis is a species in the Bradyporinae, a subfamily of the katydid family (Tettigoniidae)
