Cryptolaemus montrouzieri
Love is in the air this Valentines Day! These beetles may have an intimidating name but they're Mealybug destroying was on hold this morning. This is a very good thing since our organic trees are infested with Mealybugs! Black beetles about 4 mm long with red on the ends of the elytra and on the pronotum and head. The eyes are gray. There are tiny hairs all over the beetles.
Lemon tree in backyard orchard.
The larva can be seen at: www.projectnoah.org/spottings/159416058
