Mealybug Destroyer

Cryptolaemus montrouzieri

Description:

Love is in the air this Valentines Day! These beetles may have an intimidating name but they're Mealybug destroying was on hold this morning. This is a very good thing since our organic trees are infested with Mealybugs! Black beetles about 4 mm long with red on the ends of the elytra and on the pronotum and head. The eyes are gray. There are tiny hairs all over the beetles.

Habitat:

Lemon tree in backyard orchard.
