Red-bellied Snake juvenile

Storeria occipitomaculata

Description:

Caught this juvenile Red-belly sunning itself in early February. It seemed early to be on the move, but South Carolina weather is unpredictable and we’d had an unusually warm week. I only placed it in the jar to get a good photo of its beautiful belly, then set it free where I found it.

Habitat:

Oak and Pine forest surrounding farmland.
