Brown-hooded Kingfisher

Halcyon albiventris

Description:

A kingfisher that prefers upland wooded areas. It's back is a shocking bright turquoise(just peeking out at the front of the wing in these photos), while it's front is quite plain, except for the orange beak. Seems less flightly than other kingfishers

http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/155... WAS a woodland kingfisher. Thank you so much! I spotted 4 different kingfishers this trip!

At first glance, I thought this would be the Woodland Kingfisher, but having looked closer, I think it is the Brown-hooded Kingfisher, the difference being the beak. The Woodland Kingfisher has a red and black bill, compared with the red bill of the Brown-hooded Kingfisher.
