Eastern Forktail, male

Ischnura verticalis

Description:

Small forktail with black-striped green thorax and blue adbomen tip. Male eyes and face bright green.

Habitat:

Ponds, lakes, marshes and slow streams, edges of large rivers where vegetation and quiet water are present. Not in bogs or fens.

Notes:

I spotted this little male Eastern Forktail at my neighbor's pond 1/4 mile down the road from my house. It was so tiny and active that I could barely get a shot of him.
