Cartilage Lichen

Ramalina complanata

Habitat:

Mangrove salt marsh. Flooded part of trail at Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock Botanical State Park.

Notes:

This beautiful lichen was growing on quite a few of the dry Buttonwood stems. In the last picture you can see this area is often flooded with the tides. At the time of these pics I was wading through about a foot of water in this area of the trail. Most of the trail is through dry hardwood hammock though.
