Red and Blue Beetle

Dicranolaius bellulus

Description:

This 8 mm long beetle is beautifully coloured in red and metallic blue. The elytra are slightly short and expose the last few abdominal segments which are also red and blue. Antennae were beaded and black.

Habitat:

Spotted in a nature reserve

Notes:

This is also called a Pollen Beetle. it reportedly feeds on eggs and larvae of smaller insects and is also seen feeding on pollen on rice crops. Family: Melyridae
