Snowy Plover

Charadrius nivosus

Description:

The Snowy Plover chicks just hatched about 4 days ago. Even at only 4 days old they can find their own insects and feed themselves. They are about the same color as the sandy beach so they are hard to see.

This does not belong in the animal made structures category because, although the species does make nests, there are not any nests in the photo.
