frost is a good option, we had really cold nights the past days and they were in an open grass meadow

These might be some Armillaria sp. mushrooms. I'm curious if you fund any Honey Mushrooms in the area.
The very old Honey Mushrooms look like this, or if it rained too much and/or they got frosted.
