Chromacris speciosa
These nymphs have just passed their second mold. The bright red color will desapear in a couple hours, and the nymphs will turn to black (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/830... and http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/830...). Only after the penultimate mold the grasshopper will acquire their adult color (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/852... and http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/839...)

Simplesmente fantástico!
Jolly and Tamar: you are right, of course. I think I was so concerned by that hammerhead treehopper that I was careless about these guys. I added more info about them, with several stages of their development. Thank you both for correcting me.
I agree with ForestDragon. These are definitely grasshopper nymphs. Very unusual coloration. Maybe you could observe them as they grow to see whether they will change color.
Sergio, these have amazing color! I have to disagree with your ID though. These are grasshopper nymphs. You can tell mostly by the antennae. Katydids have long, thread-like antennae while grasshoppers have shorter, thicker antennae (like your nymphs).
Other than that, I can't help you. I have never seen grasshopper nymphs like this and I haven't come up with any good searches.
I love the second one too. Interesting colors. They look almost like toys.
Love the second photo!
