Rhinoceros beetle (pupa)

Oryctes rhinoceros

Description:

Prominent horn (like a rhinoceros) that gives the name to the adult is visible on the pupa too. . Large, quite chunky...orange in colour. The "abdomen" moves. I did not know that a pupa could move nor that wing-like structures can be seen externally.

Habitat:

This one popped out of the bag of organic cowdung manure I had purchased for my potted plants.

Notes:

Adult: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/15... Larva with video: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/15... is reportedly a serious pest of coconut...there are a few trees in my locality.
