Description:

Heavy set grasshopper of about 7 cm in length, bright colours specially on hind legs and mouth; flightless and more determined to walk than to jump, in fact a rather clumsy jumper, often landing on its back after a short leap. Able to produce a deterring sound by rubbing its wings.

Habitat:

Grassy areas in the andes, at about 1600 m above sea level.
