Desperate Squirrels

Sciurus carolinensis

Description:

Winter is a tough time for all of us, including the squirrels. Their walnuts are buried beneath a foot and a half of packed snow but that doesn't stop them! It is amazing that they remember where the nuts are buried and can dig through snow and ice to get to them.

Habitat:

Patch of woods

Notes:

I see more squirrels running around now then I do in summer. Maybe its just because the leaves are gone.
