Merops orientalis flavoviridis
Small and slender bee-eater, rather bright green with a narrow blackish gorget (stripe around the neck) and black mask around eyes, some 15-16 cm long. In this African subspecies, the face and front are distinctively green. Streamers are long, almost as long as the body itself.
I saw these bee-eaters quite often in Sudan, from an open steppe relatively far away from Nile river, with some patches of acacia shrub, but also on the river itself, in lush vegetation. Here in a hotel garden, with some palm trees, but surrounded by an open steppe/semi-desert...
