Description:

These is a little green leafhopper type insect. This one was about .25" long, Green with dark stripes along sides of wings, yellow abdomen and legs with dark spots on head and These insects are long-lived, which usually only a single generation per year. Xylem-feeding insects feeds on Woody plants, including grapevines, rape (mustard), blackberry, elderberry, mugwort, stinging nettle, and snowberry. In landscapes it's roses, fuschia, ivy and ornamental shrubs and trees. These little guys transmit Xylella fastidiosa a bacterium that is deadly to some plants especially grapes.

Habitat:

Mountains along streams, in riparian (stream bank) vegetation along rivers, foothills, forests, open spaces and in landscapes.
