Gray Squirrel

Sciurus carolinensis

Description:

The eastern gray squirrel has mainly gray fur with a white underside and a large busy tail. The head and body length is from 9 to 11 inches & the tail about 7 to 10 inches. It has 4 toes on the front feet and five on the hind feet.

Habitat:

Spotted near South Tamarac Lake & the Cotton Lake boat access. Many oak trees are growing in the area which produce acorns in the fall. Gray squirrels live in mixed hardwood and woodlands with nut-bearing trees.
