Mexican Sister Butterfly

Description:

A brown butterfly with striking white bands on the front and hind wings and an orange apical spot on each upper wing. At certain angles in the sunlight the wings have a purple iridescence. This can be seen in the last picture. It was drinking water at a splash zone along the river.

Habitat:

Tropical forest, dry season, Chorreadero Park, 10 km above Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas, Mexico.
